Is Berkeley right for you?

Big rewards. Better prospects.

A different kind of consulting firm

We’ve always done things differently at the Berkeley Partnership. For 30 years, the way we work has been tried and tested, and continues to play an enormous part in our success. Time and again, clients tell us our model of deploying highly experienced, focused teams, is what delivers lasting change. It is the quality of our people that make this model unique, who join us hoping for a better way of working and stay when they realize it’s real.

If you like the idea of being free to do the best possible job for your clients, without the need for sales targets, silos or unnecessary admin, then we might be right for you. If you want autonomy, variety, versatility and the opportunity to develop, with close support from your partners and consultant peers, then Berkeley Partnership could be the perfect choice.

What kind of consultant are you?

When we hire consultants, we focus on core consulting skills and adaptability, not functional expertise or industry specialization. You’ll need to be ready to stretch yourself as you apply your intellect, analytical thinking and consulting skills to new business problems and sectors. You'll be comfortable taking responsibility and having autonomy over your work and enjoy collaborating with others as you share expertise and develop with help from partners.

What core skills do you need?

You’ll need the ability to manage projects independently and integrate effectively with clients at all levels, building lasting relationships. You’ll be confident and collaborative, with the experience and the emotional intelligence to enable you to adapt quickly to new situations and gain the respect of your colleagues and clients.

What can you expect at the start?

First 100 days at Berkeley

Arun:  My name's Aaron Verma, and I joined 100 days ago.

Begoña: My name is Begoña Tomás, and this is my 100th day.

Arun: I came here for a fresh start, a challenge, and really to be tested. And I've got that and way more.

Begoña: Before joining Berkeley, I used to work for a massive global company. When I came back from my second maternity leave, I started to feel quite lost, and thought that it wasn't for me anymore. This is when Berkeley contacted me, and the rest is history.

Arun: When I first joined the firm, I spent two weeks getting to know people. What that literally meant was going for breakfast and lunches and meeting as many people as possible. After that, I was introduced to my first client and started my first client project. What really took me aback was the nature of the relationship I have with that client from day one. They know who we are, they know what we do, and they trust us.

Begoña: So before I was very much focused on doing workplace technology transformations, which was really good. Here at Berkeley, so far I've done an MSP transition, I'm also doing a change strategy. And this is very different to anything that I've done before. I am a working mum, I have two little girls, so I don't have too much time. However, one of the things that I've joined is the Women at Berkeley Network. So we do a lot of events which are focused on women only and I love that.

Arun: There's so much to get involved in here. Whether, like me, you want to join the football or running club, whether you're interested in the theatre club, book club... Or, my personal favorite, the whiskey and wine club. There's stuff for everyone. To top it off, the firm also takes everyone away for one weekend a year. And we recently had our away weekend in Tenerife.

Begoña: So, Berkeley has definitely delivered on my work life balance requirements. I also have a challenging role where I feel engaged and I feel like I'm learning. So yeah, everything is working out great.

Arun: A 100 days in, it's delivered way more than I could have expected. I've met some great people, worked on some really interesting projects, and really feel like I've got the challenge, push and stretch that I was desperate for when I took the job. Find out more about your next move.

Our balance

Chris Southwell:
I feel as a working parent, I've got the autonomy to make the right decisions for commitments both professionally and for family. For me, that means always doing double drop off and pick up on a Monday. But also making sure that I'm present when it counts at home.

Thenuhan Premaruban:
What's great is that shared parental leave is part of the culture of Berkeley. It's seen as the norm not the exception. And for me, that meant I could take five weeks of uninterrupted leave to become a dad for the second time, to bond with my young child and provide support for my family and my wife where she needed it.

Chris Southwell:
As a role model, I want to make sure people are visibly seeing the choices I'm making. It's given people the sense they can make the decisions that work for them, and there's no one way to get the balance.

Nicola Fage:
Having twins is madness! Often things don't go to plan. I was really concerned before I went on maternity leave that it would mean that it delayed some of my progress. And when I came back, I was worried that I would be potentially put into roles that were less challenging and not as high stretch and I found that Berkeley, talked with me about the kinds of roles that I'd want to do and I've continued to be offered really challenging but also rewarding roles.

Thenuhan Premaruban:
Coming back from parental leave, I really felt like I slipped back into the ways of working so easily. They provided me with the support that I needed to fill my role, whilst also giving me the time I needed to maintain my family commitments.

Chris Southwell:
We know that if our people feel empowered to make the right choices for balance for value. They'll be happier and deliver outstanding work for our clients.

Giving back to our communities

We offer our people the opportunity to spend five days each year offering pro-bono support to the causes and charities they believe in. Previously, around 25% of our New York team offered executive coaching support to Robin Hood to strengthen their leadership. Robin Hood has been fighting poverty in New York City for over 30 years. Most recently, our full New York team volunteered at a Thanksgiving dinner for the homeless, immigrants and the unemployed. And some of our people have chosen to volunteer at the weekends at the Manhattan soup kitchen.
