1Why did you join Berkeley?
I was attracted to Berkeley by the opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients. Having come from a financial services background, I was keen to broaden my consultancy experience and was interested in applying my transformation experience to other sectors and industries. I wanted to join an organisation with people who share similar values and worth ethic and who are also fun to work with. I also really liked Berkeley’s ethos of not only putting the client first but being part of the client team rather than just imposing change on them. Everyone who I spoke to at Berkeley had such a positive story of their experience at the firm, it seemed too good to be true!
2What’s been your favourite assignment and why?
I enjoyed working with a fashion retailer as part of their sustainability programme. I am passionate about sustainability and good ethical trade practices. I learnt a significant amount about the fashion industry and environmental practices as part of this work and realised how much of an impact every fashion choice we make has. Understanding diverse business requirement and consolidating the individual processes had historically been challenging. I helped to mobilse a programme of works to replace a legacy technology platform for the client team. Our work enabled these to be clearly articulated and provided a clear structure to work with moving forwards.
3Why did you become a management consultant?
I graduated with a law degree and took the well trodden route of becoming a solicitor. After completing a 2 year training contract, I practised as a commercial property solicitor for 2 years and then realised that a legal career wasn’t right for me. Consultancy seemed like a an exciting career opportunity because of the variety of assignments and clients on offer. I really wanted the chance to work on intellectually challenging problems in different industries.
