The Berkeley Partnership experience

Our work

Transforming ambitions into real results

We specialize in helping organizations transform under the most complex, challenging and high-stakes circumstances. From finance transformation for a major news publisher to program turnaround for a global real estate business, we act as trusted partners to leadership teams to turn goals into results. We embed our consultants in hands-on, strategic client-side roles, giving them the freedom to develop the best approach, and use their extensive experience to bring a fresh perspective, creativity and constructive challenge. For us, there are no off-the-shelf-solutions and we always remain focused on the outcomes our clients want to achieve.

Our culture

Doing the right thing for all our people

Throughout the firm, our people embody our values of positivity, community, rigor, simplicity, respect and challenge. Our warm, open culture of belonging, and healthy approach to work, enables our people to pursue their personal and professional ambitions with the enthusiasm, time and energy they deserve.  We welcome fresh thinking, and diversity of background and perspective.

We’re proud to be one of the top 10 medium-sized companies to work for in the UK, having climbed 14 spots in the Great Place to Work UK’s Best Workplaces list in 2024 compared to the previous year. We are the highest ranking mid-sized consulting firm.

Our structure

Doing the right thing, together

We have a simple organizational structure and flat hierarchy. One that is founded on warm, supportive relationships and promotes transparency, trust and teamwork above all else. This means no sales or utilization targets and simply doing what’s right for the client. Consultants are highly trusted and have freedom, while partners are always available to give guidance and support as needed. Despite our growth story, this fundamental way of working has endured.

Our community

Meaningful connections for life and work

We invest lots of time and energy in a vibrant social scene. This is because we know a career in consulting can be demanding but equally, we know it should be fun. You can do as much or as little as you want, but there’s always plenty to choose from: from book club to baseball, wine tasting to weekends away, there’s so much to get involved with. We also have lots of work-related get-togethers, both in New York and in London, to keep everybody connected, informed and consulted on all things present and future Berkeley.

We are committed to building a thriving, energetic, and collaborative hub in New York City with consultants who enjoy working with colleagues and clients face-to-face.

Our benefits

Our comprehensive benefits package is designed to make sure you know just how much we value your work and give you the support you need. You’ll start with us on a competitive salary, and you can look forward to annual pay rises that reflect your personal development. Plus we offer everyone:

  • 30 days PTO plus eight company holidays
  • 401k employer match
  • Private medical insurance for you and your family (no monthly co-pay)
  • Comprehensive life Insurance
  • Fully paid parental leave for up to 20 weeks (available from day one)
  • Annual health and wellbeing benefit of $420
  • Five discretionary days per year to volunteer with our charity partners
  • Ongoing training and development throughout your career
  • A supportive and collegiate environment
  • Regular and inclusive social events

Our flexibility

Respecting your life outside of work

We know a career in consulting is often challenging and sometimes all-consuming. But we’re focused on getting to smart outcomes rather than hours on the job. We recognize when being face-to-face with a client really matters – but we also know how sometimes working from home can help a healthy, balanced life. We understand our people have a constantly changing range of life circumstances. For example, some of our consultants and partners work part-time as they return to work from parental leave.

Murray:
Hi everyone, my name’s Murray.

Kofi:
Hi everyone, I'm Kofi.

Murray:
We're here today to talk a little bit about the work that we do here at Berkeley Partnership and why Kofi and I decided to join. So to kick things off, Kofi, tell me about the variety of roles you've had at Berkeley so far.

Kofi:
The key thing that brought me to Berkeley was the opportunity for greater variety. With that, I had to step into areas that I was not naturally flexed in. So, new functions, new industries, new skills. In addition, stepping into these different roles required me to work very closely with my clients’ leadership teams. In part because of this, my professional, as well as my personal, growth have really benefited from joining Berkeley.

Murray:
Yeah, a lot of that resonates with me as well. When I joined, I started out early on a three-month assessment of a large transformation program for a global advertising and media client. That's not an industry I'd worked in before. But very quickly, I realised that my experience in transformation and solving large complex problems was relevant for our client, so I was able to add value while also learning a new industry. The complexity of the role and the challenge really increased from there for me. Whereby, once we closed the three-month assessment, I then started to take on more of a delivery role. And now, I actually lead the delivery of the first release of that transformation. And really, I'm looking forward to a long relationship with that client and in that industry. It's really checked all the boxes that I was looking for when I made that transition, so I've really enjoyed it so far.

Kofi:
It's great to catch up, Murray.

Murray:
You too, Kofi.

Marcus:
Hi, I'm Marcus.

Yuliya:
And I'm Yuliya.

Marcus:
And we are excited today to talk to you about what our experience has been as transformation leaders at The Berkeley Partnership.

Yuliya:
So how long have you been at Berkeley? And what's it been like coming from a firm that specializes in healthcare?

Marcus:
So for me, I was the second US hire to join the firm. And as far as coming from a firm that specializes in the healthcare industry, I really felt like I was really doing the same thing over and over. And that was a little bit of a concern as I looked at the Berkeley Partnership. But it's really been a great experience, being able to leverage my skill sets, coming from just a healthcare consulting firm. Now, having worked across six different industries, doing product implementation at a global scale, similar to you – and with you – to developing strategies, going through major transformations. So really being a leader with our client to help them be successful. What was it like for you coming from a Big Four to The Berkeley Partnership?

Yuliya:
I've really gotten to see how different it is, from doing whatever needed to get done to becoming a true transformation leader. Working directly with senior stakeholders at global companies and helping them work through some of their most complex problems, while also boosting my and our own learning and development.

Marcus:
For me personally, the fact that I've been able to work across senior stakeholders, really been included in those executive level conversations, has really meant a lot for my own personal, professional career growth.

Yuliya
I've had a really similar experience so far. Thanks for the chat.

Marcus
Absolutely, Yuliya. It's been great to catch up.
